Project Support

Technicians are available at each of our offices, Monday through Friday between 7am and 6pm.

Best Practices

The following tips can be applied to just about every piece of equipment in our rental inventory. Strictly following these tips will help ensure accuracy, prevent down time, and help avoid additional fees:

  • Do Not

    • Store or use equipment in a wet environment.
    • Store equipment in extremely high or low temperature environments.
    • Mark equipment or accessories with permanent marker or duct tape.
  • Do

    • Use care to ensure that water and debris does not contact internal parts, connections, or accessories.
    • Place re-chargeable batteries (if provided) on charge for at least 4 hours prior to use.
    • All contaminants must be removed from equipment and accessories prior to return.

Troubleshooting Tips

Weather Conditions

Except for submersible pumps and submersible water quality sensors, our rental equipment is not waterproof. Also, most electronics will malfunction if stored or used in high heat, high humidity, direct sunlight, or below freezing temperatures. Make sure equipment has been stored as close to room temperature as possible.

Check the Battery

The most common problem we hear about is low voltage on the battery. On many instruments a low battery can cause inaccurate readings and other issues. Most batteries are field replaceable.

Connections

Whether it’s low-flow sampling, air sampling, datalogging, power sources, or wireless communications, all connections need to be made to the appropriate connector and secure. Make sure to double check each connection throughout the entire system.

Re-Calibrate

Some equipment can be knocked out of calibration fairly easily or requires frequent calibration based on usage. Following the zero calibration and span calibration steps once more could save a lot of downtime and frustration.

Filters

Most air quality meters need to be used with clean filters. Make sure the filters are clean and being used correctly.

Power Off

All small electronics have glitches from time to time. Sometimes fixing these is as easy as powering off and back on a few seconds later. Also, some of our equipment have cold-start functions, reset functions, and/or return to factory settings functions. These should be considered a last resort, but they could get the unit up and running again.

Expiration Dates

All calibration gases and solutions have expiration dates. Make sure to check this before calibration.
